Serjeants’ Inn Chambers/Oxford Neurosurgery Medical Law Conference
14th September 2015
The sixth Serjeants’ Inn Chambers/Oxford Neurosurgery Medical Law Conference will be held on Monday 21st September 2015 from 10am to 4.30pm at Wadham College, Oxford.
For the past six years John de Bono QC and neurosurgeon Richard Stacey have organised this event for both claimant and defendant clinical negligence enthusiasts. John and Richard aim for an interesting mix of medical and legal talks and we will once again be offering a ‘speed dating’ session after lunch, with a more informal opportunity to ask questions of our medical speakers.
This year’s programme is as promising as ever and includes:
Dr David Williams, Consultant Obstetric Physician: “Treating medical disorders in pregnancy – the physicians’ perspective”
Dr John Thompson, Consultant Toxicologist and Senior Lecturer in Toxicology at the University of Cardiff, Director of the National Poisons Information Service
Dr Nick Broughton, Medical Director, West London Mental Health Trust: “What is Mental Illness?” including reflections on the provision of mental health services and attacks on third parties by those receiving mental health treatment.
Mr James Wilson MacDonald, Consultant Spinal Surgeon: “Medico-legal aspects of spinal cord injury and surgery for spinal deformity”
Katie Gollop & Eleanor Morrison: “Consent following Montgomery”
Michael Walsh: “Legal update”
