Dijen Basu QC and Alex dos Santos give advocacy training to prosecutors

Dijen Basu QC and Alexander dos Santos were part of a delegation to Kiev from 7th to 12th April 2019 arranged by the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine supported by the Inns of Court College of Advocacy to train advocates and advocacy tutors at the National Academy of Prosecutors of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
This is one of the first occasions where such training – involving the use of the Hampel method – has been delivered through interpreters, an added challenge being the differences in law and procedure between the Ukrainian and English systems.
Alexander dos Santos also participated in earlier training in Odessa.
The mission was very well received and the Rector of the Academy invited the delegation to return in 3 months in order to review progress and implementation.
