Elliot Gold appears in the High Court to defend lawfulness of a data sharing agreement

Elliot Gold appeared in the High Court to defend (i) the lawfulness of a data sharing agreement between the Chief Constable of Sussex and a crime reduction partnership (ii) individual disclosures of information.
In R (M by her litigation friend) v Chief Constable of Sussex [2019] EWHC 975 (Admin), the Claimant, aged under eighteen, brought an action against the Chief Constable stating that a data sharing agreement between the Chief Constable and a crime reduction partnership was contrary to the Data Protection Act 1998 and 2018 and that individual disclosures of information concerning her were unlawful.
The court found that the data sharing agreement was lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and 1998. It further found that whilst the Chief Constable had unlawfully disclosed information of her being at risk of sexual exploitation, it had not acted unlawfully in sharing her photograph, details of her criminal activities and her bail conditions.
