Sarah Clarke QC speaks on cross-examination techniques at Steven Thiru & Sudhar Partnership’s internal continuing professional development webinar series

On the 29th of July, 2021, Sarah Clarke QC spoke at the Steven Thiru & Sudhar Partnership’s internal Continuing Professional Development webinar for its lawyers.
Sarah is a senior and well established barrister in England & Wales and is also a highly regarded advocacy trainer. The session was on the subject of cross-examination.
Sarah spoke of the various techniques on the conduct of an effective cross-examination. The topics she addressed included, amongst others, the effective preparation for a cross-examination, how one should handle an unexpected response from a witness and the techniques of advocacy that are unique to the conduct of a cross-examination online.
Sarah also spoke on litigation practice in general and notably remarked that she had learnt from past experience that it was her duty as a barrister “to help people … even if they can’t pay you. You just have to be prepared to step up because that’s the gift we’ve been given in this job. It’s that sometimes you really can change peoples’ lives, just by giving them a helping hand when they need it”.
