Anthony Haycroft successfully defends dentist at the GDC
13th June 2014
Anthony Haycroft has successfully defended a general dentist before the Professional Conduct Committee of the General Dental Council. The dentist was accused of a large number of allegations including dishonestly referring two NHS patients to his own private hygienist for a fee instead of providing their peridontal treatment for free on the NHS. In addition there were a number of clinical allegations, many of which the dentist admitted. Mr Haycroft successfully submitted there was no case to answer on 5 of the allegations and all the remaining allegations contested including the dishonesty allegations were found not proven. In respect of the allegations the dentist did admit, the Professional Conduct Committee accepted Mr Haycroft’s submissions that the dentist’s fitness to practice was not impaired and so no sanction at all was made against him.
Anthony Haycroft was instructed by Judith Duffin of Berrymans Lace Mawer, London and Brian Westbury and Michael Morris of Dental Protection.
