Alan Jenkins acts in cases for those whose actions/failings are the focus of the hearing. He has appeared in numerous police station and prison cases, and for contractors, employers and other parties in industrial/factory/building site settings.

Alan Jenkins has acted in Coroners Inquests for many years, usually for one of the Interested Persons whose actions fall to be scrutinised.

Alan has particular experience in Inquests concerning deaths in a medical/care setting, again acting for organisations or individuals whose actions or omissions may be the focus of the factual and expert evidence called at the hearing.

He has acted in many serious and high profile cases, and in cases involving multiple deaths.

cases & work of note

Cases in recent years include:

  • The Kingsway Hospital, Derby Inquests. 10 deaths investigated in an 8 week hearing.  End stage dementia patients allegedly deprived of nutrition and hydration.  Acted for Consultant Psychiatrist responsible for the care regime.
  • The Gosport War Memorial Hospital Inquests. 2 inquests, into a total of 11 deaths of patients at the hospital, and lasting 5 weeks in all.  The background was of a police investigation into more than 90 patient deaths at the hospital, over a period of a decade, and in which prescribed opiate medication was said to have led to death.  Acted for the prescribing doctor Dr Jane Barton.
  • Re Connor Sparrowhawk. Acted for Consultant Psychiatrist at a mental health assessment unit following the death of a young epileptic patient.  Southern Health was the Trust: see much recent publicity.
