Amy Street in award-winning team

An edition of BBC Radio 4’s legal discussion programme Unreliable Evidence has won this year’s Bar Council Legal Reporting Award in the broadcasting category. Amy Street has been legal consultant to the series since 2009.
The judging panel praised the programme, which looked at the legal rights of cohabiting couples, for taking a subject which sought to educate people on their rights and responsibilities, and were impressed with the clarity and accessibility of the discussion.
The Legal Reporting Awards, now in their 22nd year, were established by the Bar Council to recognise print and broadcast journalists whose work contributes to a greater public understanding and awareness of legal issues. Owen Bowcott and Maya Wolfe-Robinson, legal affairs reporters for The Guardian, won this year’s award in the written category.
In the broadcast category, the Bar Council judges said the episode of Unreliable Evidence, broadcast in May 2013 and presented by Clive Anderson, provided an interesting and relevant discussion to the many people in the UK who live together but are not married and uncovered some of the myths of their joint legal rights.
