Anthony Haycroft successfully defends a GP before a Medical Practitioners Tribunal in a 2-week case of dishonesty
16th September 2022
The doctor had treated family members over an 8-year period and then dishonestly altered the records to conceal that he had done so. The dishonesty was “persistent” and spanned a long period of time. The doctor admitted all allegations and accepted impairment and that the sanction choice was between suspension and erasure. The GMC sought erasure. The MPT accepted the defence argument that the dishonesty was due to fear and panic and not an ingrained dishonesty trait and imposed a 12-month period of suspension with a review and no immediate order made.
Anthony Haycroft was instructed by Aidan Carr of Burton Copeland LLP Manchester.
