GP represented by Andrew Hockton cleared of dishonesty

7th September 2016

At the conclusion of a hearing before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal on 7th September, Dr A, a general practitioner, was cleared of a serious  allegation of dishonesty. It was alleged that the GP had forged the signature of his practice principal and sent a fabricated reference to a prospective employer. At the conclusion of the GMC’s case, after cross-examination of the GMC’s witnesses, a  successful ‘half-time submission’ was made that there was no case to answer. The tribunal concluded that there was not sufficient evidence against the GP for the case to proceed. The doctor was represented by Andrew Hockton, instructed by Kirsty Jeeves from the MDU.
