Parasitic worms inquest concludes
4th December 2014
The Cardiff inquest concerning kidney transplantations infected by parasitic worms in which George Hugh-Jones QC and Elliot Gold acted has concluded with a narrative verdict that both the deaths were the unintended consequences of necessary medical intervention.
George Hugh-Jones QC was instructed by the Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board on behalf of The University Hospital of Wales.
Elliot Gold was instructed by NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) which supplied the two kidneys for donation and which provides tissues and solid organs to hospitals across the UK. The proceedings have been reported around the world and by all the major British newspapers, the BBC and ITV.
